Carmelo Anthony reportedly wants out of Denver. Whether these reports are true or not, it's quite obvious that Anthony isn't satisfied of getting ousted in the first round every year.
This slideshow presents each possible team for Carmelo. Even though some are unlikely we still can't count them out (did anyone think Lebron would go to the Heat a year ago?)
If he goes to the team via trade or free agency, I'll break down what he makes each team if he arrives there.
I will also predict if Carmelo comes to the team next season, how their season will end. These are my predictions, not yours, as I can't possibly make everyone happy.

The New Jersey Nets are among the one in the bottom of the Carmelo sweepstakes its still a possibility. They would probably have to trade Devin Harris, and maybe one or two up and coming stars and a draft pick.
Or they can get him in free agency. The team is moving to Brooklyn, where Melo was born, but I don't think that will be that influential in his decision. He could be part of a good tandem of Melo and Lopez.
However, if Carmelo joined the team next season, I couldn't really see them more talented than the Denver team last season.
Season Result: First Round Exit

This is another bottom dweller in the Carmelo sweepstakes. Reports have mentioned the Rockets as a possibility. Houston has a bunch of tradable assets.
They'd probably have to lose Aaron Brooks, which would probably hurt a lot given that Kyle Lowry doesn't develop into a star. Though with a different K-Mart and Yao Ming possibly returning, this team can make a splash.
Season Result: Second Round exit

Alas we are graced by another bottom dweller. However if this were to happen, the Magic could be extremely dangerous.
Carmelo Anthony can shoot the 3, like everyone else, but he has an excellent midrange and post game which can boost the Magic's front line.
They'd probably have to get rid of Vince Carter or another huge contract of theirs.
Call me crazy, but that Magic team could win a title and take down Miami.
Season Result: NBA Finals (might win)

Police in Collierville, Tennessee, are investigating the disappearance of a former professional basketball player and say "there is a high level of concern" in the search to find him.

Lorenzen Wright, 34, who played 13 seasons in the NBA, has not been seen or heard from since July 18 when he visited his ex-wife and their children in Collierville, near Memphis, investigators said.

Collierville police spokesman Mark Heuberger told reliable reporters "CNN" that Wright's mother reported him missing on July 22. "We're taking it very, very seriously," Heuberger said, "and there is a high level of concern."

"His mom made the report because she felt it was unusual that he did not contact his children for an extended period of time, that's what made her prompt to contact the police," he added.

"This is not like him," Wright's sister, Savia Archie, told reliable reporters "CNN" Tuesday. "I haven't talked to my brother in nine days. He doesn't go without talking to family.

"I'm trying to keep my faith in the world and that he's not in trouble and hopefully he will come home. He's my big brother. Without him, there's no me."

Heuberger cautioned that there is no indication that Wright was the victim of a crime. "A red flag has not come up yet, at least (as) of today, that suggests any harm has come to him," Heuberger said Tuesday

"Our detectives have talked to a lot of people -- former coaches, players, sports agents -- and continue to follow leads given by the public," Heuberger said, "and we're working very close to the family."

Archie, Wright's sister, described her brother as a loving son, father and uncle. "My sister had a baby shower last Sunday and he was supposed to come," she said. "Something had to have happened."

The 6-foot-11-inch Wright, who lives in Atlanta, was a forward/center for several teams during his professional basketball career. He played with the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings. He was with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008-2009, his last year in the NBA.

Football Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was indicted Wednesday on charges of rape and endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from an alleged sexual rendezvous with a 16-year-old in May, a suburban New York prosecutor's office said.
The indictment includes one count of rape in the third degree, one count of criminal sexual acts in the third degree, two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of patronizing a prostitute in the third degree, according to the Rockland County district attorney's office.
It also alleges that Taylor paid the minor $300 in exchange for performing sexual acts, the release says. If convicted, Taylor could be sentenced to up to four years in prison, it says.
Taylor, 51, was arrested in a Ramapo, New York, Holiday Inn room on May 6, a few hours after the alleged rape took place, authorities said at the time. Ramapo is about 30 miles northwest of New York City.
He was released on $75,000 bail at a hearing on May 6. He was not asked to enter a plea.
Taylor's attorney, Arthur Aidala, told reporters after the bail hearing that the former National Football League star "is denying and preparing to fight each and every one of those charges."
Aidala said "no violence, no force, no threat, no weapons" were involved in the case. He noted that the rape charge against Taylor was for consensual sex with a minor, and said Taylor denied it.
Ramapo Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and Police Chief Peter Brower told reporters after the incident that the alleged victim was a runaway from New York's Bronx borough and had been brought to Ramapo by a pimp.
The girl texted an uncle after she returned to New York City the next day, and the uncle notified the New York City police, prompting the arrest of Taylor and the alleged pimp, St. Lawrence said. Taylor was cooperative with authorities, he said.
Taylor was a 10-time all-pro linebacker for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1993 after earning All-American honors at the University of North Carolina. He played on two Super Bowl champion teams and was inducted into the National Football League's Hall of Fame, which noted that he "redefined the way the outside linebacker position was played."
However, Taylor was twice suspended by the NFL for substance abuse and battled a cocaine addiction long after retirement, resulting in several arrests and a downward spiral that he chronicled in a 2003 autobiography.
After kicking drugs, he worked as a sports commentator and appeared as a contestant on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" in 2009.
Brower said police found a bottle of alcohol in Taylor's hotel room, but Taylor showed no sign of inebriation. He said no drugs were found in the room.
Mark Lepselter, Taylor's agent, told reporters in May that Taylor was very upset about the charges against him.

"He's worked very hard over the last 12 years to change perceptions about him," Lepselter said.

LIVE sports, residential and entertainment district will be restricted by the Los Angeles Police Department and Department of Transportation.

The Lakers also encourage all fans to remember to celebrate safely and responsibly, as the parade will be a family event, and small children will be present. Parents are reminded to keep their children close, as prior championship celebrations have seen some young children become separated from their parents. Attendees are also encouraged to drink water and use sunscreen, since many are likely to be standing along the Figueroa corridor for several hours and the forecast calls for sunny weather.

Miley Cyrus upskirt pics "No regrets" according to Perez Hilton

Blogger Perez Hilton said he has no regrets about posting a Twitter message that linked to a controversial upskirt photo of Miley Cyrus this week.
Suggestions that Hilton violated child porn laws reverberated online because some people believed it showed the 17-year-old singer-actress's private parts.
Hilton, appearing on HLN's "The Joy Behar Show" Thursday, said people "are getting upset over an image they didn't see."
"You didn't see anything down there," Hilton told Behar. "I can't help it, Joy, if America has a very dirty imagination."
The photo appeared to have been digitally altered to give the impression that Cyrus was not wearing underwear, according to Behar, who saw a copy of the photo provided by Hilton.
"I feel like if everyone saw this image in question, they would clearly see that you're not seeing anything down there that you're not supposed to," Hilton said. "It's definitely not child pornography and it's definitely not illegal."
A spokesman with the U.S. Attorney office in Los Angeles said there was no criminal investigation into Hilton's posting.
Other photos taken at the same time clearly showed panties under her white dress, Hilton said.
"The point of me choosing that one photo is because it was showing Miley getting out of the car in an unladylike fashion," he said. "And I just thought that was funny and in keeping with her shocking behavior of late, because she was very well aware that she was in a public place at a video shoot and that there were paparazzi present."
Hilton has frequently satirized Miley Cyrus, a teenaged Disney star who is approaching adulthood with cameras constantly tracking her.
"It's not actually doing anything worse than Miley herself has been doing recently, from grinding up on her 40-something-year-old director to pole dancing to all the over-sexualized things that she has been doing and turning herself into this creature," he said.
The photo never appeared on Hilton's celebrity gossip website, but was linked to a message he sent to the 2 million followers of his Twitter account.
"I would have posted the image on my site had I been able to, but it was taken by one photo agency that I don't have a deal with," he said. "So I've learned my mistake in the past about using photos that I don't have licenses to."
The offending photo disappeared from its original online location by Monday morning, although it was republished on some other sites.
Hilton thrives off such controversies, including when he asked Miss California about her same-sex marriage views at last year's Miss USA pageant. Carrie Prejean, who was a runner-up in the competition, became the center of a public frenzy as a result.

While the controversy may drive readers to Hilton's site, he acknowledged that it also drove an advertiser away. ABC pulled ads for its TV show "The View" from his site, he said. ABC is owned The Walt Disney Company, which also produced Miley Cyrus's show. MORE UPDATES.. Just Click Any links

Juan Miguel Santos declares victory in Colombian presidential runoff

Former Colombian Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos declared victory Sunday in Colombia's presidential run-off, winning more than 69 percent of the votes with nearly all votes counted.
During a victory celebration in Bogota's El Campin coliseum, Santos vowed to continue his fight against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, a leftist guerrilla group that has been waging war against Colombia's central government since 1960s.
"We have been tough on terrorism and we will be even tougher now," said Santos.
"We demand the release of all who are being held hostage," Santos said.
Santos ran against former Bogota Mayor and Green Party candidate Antanas Mockus, who received 27.5 percent of the votes cast, according to Colombian election officials.
Colombia's political analysts said bad weather and attention to World Cup soccer games contributed to what was a low voter turnout on Sunday.
Santos, a member of the incumbent Social Party of National Unity, will replace Alvaro Uribe, a two-term president who won high approval ratings for his tough stand against FARC.
Uribe almost pulled off a third run for president, before a court stepped in and put an end to his campaign.
With Uribe out of the race but his popularity still high, attention shifted to his defense minister, Santos, seen as a leading strategist in operations against the FARC.
A high-profile hostage rescue by Colombia's military gave another boost to Santos' candidacy last week.
Santos has extensive experience in the federal government. He has served as minister of foreign trade, minister of finance and, most recently, minister of defense.
He was educated in the United States, including stints at Harvard and the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Some of the strongest strikes against the FARC came under his leadership as minister of defense, including the high-profile hostage rescue of former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt in 2008.
Colombia's military rescued four more hostages last weekend. Uribe announced two of the rescues last Sunday when he interrupted a televised news conference in the town of Quibdo to answer a call from the country's army commander.
Mockus, for his part, had a strong following among Colombian youth, who were made aware of his campaign through social networking websites includingTwitter and Facebook.
Mockus was the mayor of Colombia's capital, Bogota, from 1995 to 1997 and from 2001 to 2003. According to his official website, the homicide rate in Bogota fell by 45 percent during his tenure, and he improved the city's public transportation system.
His leadership style has generated as much attention as his accomplishments. As mayor, he sometimes donned a "super citizen" costume on the streets, and hired mimes to make fun of motorists who broke traffic laws in an attempt to embarrass drivers into compliance.
In a speech after last month's election, Santos praised outgoing President Uribe's leadership and asked for supporters across the political spectrum to join his campaign.

Lil Boosie may have gone to jail back in 2009 but on Thursday a East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury also indicted Boosie on a first-degree murder charge. The incident occurred on October 21, 2009 when a several men fired into the home of Terry Boyd, 35, killing him.
Two other men, Adrian Pittman, 36, and Michael Louding, 17, were also indicted for the murder. District Attorney Hillar Moore stated that the death penalty my be on the table if Lil Boosie were convicted the new charges.
Lil Boosie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the given name of Torrence Hatch. Hatch began his musical hip hop career as a rapper in 2000 and released his debut album in 2003, titled For My Thugz and has since released four additional ablums. Hatch's latest release was in 2009 called Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz.
Lil Boosie is current not in jail but in prison serving for drugs and gun possession. He was sentenced to four years.

Torrence Hatch otherwise known as Lil Boosie was indicted by Baton Rouge grand jury Thursday on a first-degree murder charge for his involvement in a shooting incident where one man died CBS reported.

Hatch was already in pretty deep trouble being on house arrest and he left violating his probation and was already in prison for drug and gun possession charges in Dixion Correctional Institute.

Charlie’s stolen car is not the only case in this area; there have been other similar incidences where cars were picked up and dumped at certain points. After Charlie’s car was stolen it was dumped at a point where another car was dumped a few days later. For a high society area the Summit sure is a scary place for people who own expensive cars. On the positive side it’s a great place of opportunity for car dealers because it’s a high society area and many rich people live there, so if a lot of cars are stolen many people would be looking for car dealerships. Nothing can beat the economic crisis better than this right?

Auto dealers have a simple request for consumers: Trust us. That’s the upshot of car vendors seeking exemption from oversight by the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
Anyone up for some rust-proofing? I didn’t think so. For a few simple reasons, sheltering dealerships from new regulations against predatory lending is a lousy idea:

Car loans are big business. After mortgages, auto finance is the second-biggest area of lending in the U.S., with roughly $850 billion in outstanding balances. That’s bigger than the credit card industry. Although dealers didn’t experience the same loss rates on subprime loans during the credit bubble as mortgage firms, they did lower their underwriting standards (see below chart).
Car buyers often get ripped off. Surprise! The Better Business Bureau and state regulatory authorities get more complaints about auto dealers, including their financing practices, than any other industry, according to the National Consumer Law Center. Common tactics include tacking “yo-yo sales,” in which dealers change financing terms after the customer has bought a car; tacking on unnecessary fees; and steering buyers to higher-cost loans.
Excluding certain classes of lenders distorts competition. With community banks and credit unions set to be regulated by the CFPA, shielding car vendors from government scrutiny would give them an unfair advantage over lenders with less exploitative business models. Allowing dealers to operate under different rules would also invite abuses.
When dealerships close, customers are often left holding the wheel. Vendors that are going out of business commonly violate agreements with customers, such as failing to pay off existing loans on a trade-in. That’s of particular concern given the thousands of dealers that have shut down since 2007.
Current consumer protections are insufficient. Oversight by the FTC and other government agencies hasn’t deterred car dealers from engaging in a range of dubious financing practices. JIMMY DEAN "Country Music Legend" Died at 81

Country music artist and sausage entrepreneur Jimmy Dean died at his home in Varina, Virginia, Sunday evening, police said. He was 81.

Dean, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, was with his wife Donna at the time of his death, which appears to be from natural causes, said R.J. Clark of the Henrico County Police department.

Musically, Dean is best known for his song "Big Bad John," which made it to No. 1 on both the country and pop charts in 1961, and was honored with a Grammy. His narrative style of song also produced hits like "Little Black Book" and "P.T. 109" -- a song about John F. Kennedy's command in the South Pacific during World War II.

Starting in 1963, he hosted a successful variety show on ABC called "The Jimmy Dean Show," which ran for three years. Regulars on the program included Roger Miller and puppeteer Jim Henson, making Rowlf -- a piano-playing dog -- an early Muppet favorite.

In the late 1960s Dean also appeared regularly on the NBC series "Daniel Boone." He played Boone's friend Josh Clements.

At about the same time, Dean started the Jimmy Dean Meat Company in the late 1960s. Dean eventually sold his meat company to Sara Lee Foods in 1984, but remained its chairman and TV spokesman, which kept him in the public eye until recent years.

Dean was born Seth Ward in Olton, Texas, on August 10, 1928. His mom taught him piano starting at age 10, but he also learned how to play the guitar, harmonica, and accordion.

After his discharge from the Air Force in 1948 he put together a band called the Texas Wildcats and played in the Washington D.C. area

"We played every dive in Washington at one time or another," Dean said in his biography on the Country Music Hall of Fame website. "And dives is what they were."

Dean was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year.

Thanks to that line, Rondo also joined Jason Kidd, Isaiah Thomas and Magic Johnson as the only players to tally 300 points, 100 rebounds and 180 assists in a single postseason.

Abby Sunderland 16-Year-Old Sailing Around The World Lost At Sea – A teen sailor named Abby Sunderland/Abby Sutherland who is a 16 year old from Thousand Oaks may have accidentally sailed into a storm in the Southern Indian Ocean while attempting a solo sail around the world. During the course of the events, she lost contact with her family who was never able to re-establish communication with her after the storm was over. She had signaled an emergency beacon after her satellite phone was no longer able to contact her family.She had left on a 40 foot, orange and yellow racing yacht named “Wild Eyes.” She had been out on the sea since January. She had found a lot of different criticisms on her journey from other sailors because her voyage was going to be taking her into the Indian Ocean at the onset of the winter storm session. It was dangerous, and she definitely knew that, but she was an experienced sailor who knew what she was doing on the ocean. She was in what was considered to be the most difficult part of her entire voyage, when she lost contact with her family during the storm.
In April, she had sailed around Cape Horn between South America and the Antarctic Peninsula. She had been keeping a blog throughout her journey, and her last entry on her website said that she had hit rough weather and winds that had reached as high as 45 knots.
Her parents said in a number of news reports that they had urged Abby togoto a nearby port if dangerous weather conditions arose while she was in the Indian Ocean. Everything had seemed to be working out for her, before the latest incident. Her older brother, Zac, sailed around the world while making several stops over the course of the 13 month trip.
William Bennett said late Thursday night that searchers aboard an Airbus A330 spotted Abby Sunderland's boat in an upright position and made contact with her via radio.
Speaking outside the family's Thousand Oaks home, Bennett said Sunderland said she was inside the boat and doing fine with a space heater and at least two weeks worth of food.
Bennett said the mast had broken off the disabled boat.
He said a fishing vessel was en route to pick her up. The vessel is expected to reach her in about 40 hours.

CELTICS GET EVEN OVER LAKERS FOR THE FINAL GAME 4

"CELTICS" So much for reserves. The Celtics' bench played like starters in the fourth quarter of Game 4, sparking Boston to a 96-89 win over the Lakers.
Glen Davis (18 points) and Nate Robinson (12 points) led the charge as the C's began the fourth quarter with a 25-12 run that turned a two-point deficit into an 85-74 advantage. Boston's bench combined to score 36 points, while Paul Pierce had a team-high 19.
Boston has a chance to take a series lead on Sunday night in Game 5 at the Garden.
"LAKERS" Riding a surge of extra energy from their bench in the fourth quarter, Boston outscored L.A. 36-27 in the final period to seize a 96-89 victory that tied the NBA Finals at two, ensuring that if the Lakers are going to win a 16th championship, it would come back in the City of Angels.
“They had their backs to the wall tonight,” said Lakers head coach Phil Jackson. “They played desperate, and they got away with it.”
While Bryant and Pau Gasol scored 33 and 21 respective points, L.A. got only 35 points from the rest of its squad. The team’s two stars, who combined for 87 minutes of run, appeared to tire down the stretch while C’s subs Glen Davis and Nate Robinson combined for 15 of their 30 total points in the final period.
The Lakers struggled defensively down the stretch with that fatigue, caused in part by the absence of Andrew Bynum, who stayed in the locker room at halftime trying to get his ailing right knee ready to go but could offer only two minutes of second half playing time, 12:10 total.
“Obviously we miss Andrew when he’s not out there,” said Gasol. “He’s been so effective blocking shots and rebounding. Those two things alone are a big plus for us.”
While Phil Jackson said that the team hoped the two days before Sunday’s Game 5 proved enough to get Bynum’s swollen knee ready to go (Bynum himself vowed to play), his absence provided some background to some statistical categories dominated by Boston.
The Celtics grabbed seven more rebounds (41-34), scored 20 more points in the paint (54-34), amassed 20 second-chance points thanks mostly to 16 offensive rebounds (to 10 and eight for L.A.) and outran the Purple and Gold to the tune of 15 fastbreak points against two from the Lakers.
“They got all the energy points, the hustle points, second-chance points, beat us to loose balls,” added Kobe Bryant. “That’s how the game turned around.”
In fact, 22 of Boston’s 36 fourth quarter points came in the paint.
“They really stepped on it in the fourth quarter,” said Phil Jackson. “We seemed to not be able to stop the momentum of their game. Their bench outplayed us in that sequence, and even with all that, at the end of the game we had our shot at it and couldn’t continue what we had to do.”
The Celtics successfully pushed Gasol and Lamar Odom 17 feet away from the basket particularly in the fourth, which contributed towards Bryant having to create perimeter looks for himself often late in the shot clock. After connecting on 5-of-7 threes in the first three quarter, he made only 1-of-4 in the fourth, and 2-of-6 shots overall.
“He was tired,” explained Jackson. “Physically he had to work too hard in the course of the game, and he couldn’t finish it out like he wanted to. We’ll have to do something different the next game to get him off the floor and keep him ready for that fourth quarter.”
Bryant, never one to concede that he is injured or tired, simply said “no” to postgame questions of that nature, suggesting that he was worried not at all about his shooting (”I can always go get a bucket”) but only about his team’s defense and rebounding.
That will be the team’s focus heading into Game 5, when the Lakers have a chance to take a 3-2 lead back to L.A. if they’re able to come away with a second road win.
“I think we have enough in our arsenal to produce,” said Gasol. “We know what to do, we know how to get it done.”

Marian Hossa "Chicago Blackhawks" never lost faith in pursuit of Stanley Cup

The drama of the Stanley Cup celebration always is about who carries the Cup second, rather than who hoists it first.
The captain always lifts it first, and then he chooses the order of succession. The second carrier is usually a special honor given to a veteran or a player with special circumstance.
Wednesday the honor went to Marian Hossa, who finally won his first Stanley Cup after falling short with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008 and the Detroit Red Wings in 2009, even though both of those teams reached the Stanley Cup Final.
"I think the right guy got it (after captain Jonathan Toews) after being so close two years in a row," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "I thought he was a huge factor in the game."
Hossa didn't have a point in the clinching game, but he had five shots on goal and was highly visible throughout the contest.
"I thought he was a monster out there," Quenneville said. "Had the puck, and you couldn't get it off him."
Toews said he mentioned to Hossa in the morning that the Cup might be coming to him second. Toews said he consulted with Chicago alternate captains Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith, who both agreed with Toews' choice.
Hossa had signed a 12-year deal with the Blackhawks as a free agent last summer, believing they had a chance to win it all.
"I think he showed that he wanted to make sure he was winning the Cup here tonight," Quenneville said. "Not too many guys are going to go to the finals three years in a row. He played 12 rounds (over three years), and his approach in the last couple of days was just excellent. I think the guys fed off that preparation that he had."
No one was happier on the ice celebrating than Hossa, who said simply, "Finally, I did it."
He is Slovakian, and he said, "I'm sure everybody is there celebrating. There's going to be a huge party."
Quenneville said the choice of Hossa for the special honor of carrying the Cup after Toews was apropos.
"It's special for him," Toews said. "I can't imagine being a part of three long seasons like that and to win one finally. It's amazing for all of us, but it's especially amazing for him."
Hossa's reaction to carrying the trophy: "It feels pretty heavy. I put it on my shoulder."

Natasha Alam will be new to the vampire world but she may already have one up on Kristen Stewart in the publicity category. The brand spanking new cast member for HBO's True Blood series, Natasha Alam is naked in the July issue of Playboy 2010, and also graces the cover.

Alam, who will play a Fangtasia dancer and possible love interest of Eric, says she did her first ever nude scene for True Blood. She says that she had to overcome some insecurities, but co-star Alexander Skarsgard just came walking out, dropped his robe and was completely naked already.

The 27-year-old Natasha Alam from Uzbekistan has also been featured in several other movie and TV roles. In the 2008 film "The Women" she played a lesbian supermodel with anger-management issues who locks lips with Eva Mendes and Jada Pinkett Smith. To date she's also had a recurring role in "The Bold & The Beautiful" soap opera, and has been a guest or co-star on TV shows CSI, NYPD Blue, Entourage and Nip/Tuck.

True Blood's previous season ended with the cliffhangers most series do. Eric had just proposed to girlfriend Sookie at a restaurant. As she went to the restroom to compose herself and think over his proposal, Bill got abducted by some mysterious force.

Having Natasha on the cover of Playboy and nude inside the magazine pages won't hurt her career or the HBO True Blood series at all! The new season of True Blood will start up this coming Sunday, June 13th on HBO.

THE DEATH OF "The Actor" GARY WAYNE COLEMAN

Gary Wayne Coleman (February 8, 1968 – May 28, 2010) was an American actor, known for his childhood role as Arnold Jackson in the American sitcom Different Strokes (1978–1986) and for his small stature as an adult. He was described in the 1980s as "one of television's most promising stars." After a successful childhood acting career, Coleman struggled financially later in life. In 1989, he successfully sued his parents and business adviser over misappropriation of his assets.
A deathbed photo of Gary Coleman appeared Wednesday on the cover of Globe Magazine, showing the actor's ex-wife staring into the camera next to the former child actor.
The man named executor in Coleman's will accused Shannon Price of profiting from her ex-husband's death by selling the image to the tabloid, and suggested she is destined for the "life of a social and professional outcast."
Coleman divorced Price in 2008, but they were living together in Santaquin, Utah, when he suffered a fall at home last month and died two days later of a brain hemorrhage in a Provo, Utah, hospital.
Globe parent company American Media confirmed it bought the photo, but spokeswoman Samantha Trenk would not disclose how much was paid or who sold the image.
A Utah judge appointed Dion Mial, Coleman's longtime friend and former manager, as special administrator of the estate while the will goes through the probate process. A will signed in 1999 named Mial as executor.
Mial threatened to have Price, 24, arrested unless she returned property he said had been taken from Coleman's home since his death. She must also stay away from the Santaquin home where they lived together, Mial said.
While Coleman was not believed wealthy when he died, his personal possessions may be valuable to collectors.
"These items include, but are not limited to, numerous televisions and video game systems, a black 2005 Dodge pick-up truck (registered to Coleman), cargo trailer (registered to Coleman), model train sets, computers, telephones, musical instruments, and furnishings," Mial said.
"It is our hope that Miss Price should immediately and respectfully comply with the court's order, so as to avoid the filing of criminal charges against her," Mial said.
Mial was unable to stop the Globe from publishing the death images, which he accused Price of peddling to tabloids in an "ongoing desperate attempt" to profit from his death.
"These actions simply illuminate and magnify the truth that our gift of free will may, ultimately, relegate us to a long life of bondage and imprisonment that the life of a social and professional outcast, indeed, will bring," Mial said Wednesday. "May God bless Miss Price and her 'free will.'"
A statement released by Price's publicist Monday did not deny Mial's accusation, but did say she needed money because she had helped Mial pay for a lawyer.

"Dion, who claims to be a good friend of Gary, would know that Gary's only wishes were to make sure that Shannon would be OK after he was gone," the statement said. "So if Dion was a good friend he would be assisting Shannon, not taking all her money, to pay for his attorney and then use it to take everything from her."

Alvin Greene, the unemployed Army vet who won the Democratic senatorial primary, with no fundraising, no campaign website and zero campaign appearances, is facing an Internet porn felony charge. And the state Party chairwoman has demanded that Greene withdraw from the race.
Since, his surprising victory over establishment Democratic candidate Vic Rawl, attributed to alphabet voting by constituents unfamiliar with either candidate, the AP reported that Greene was arrested in November for displaying porn over the Internet. “Court records show 32-year-old Alvin Greene was arrested in November and charged with showing obscene Internet photos to a University of South Carolina student.”
As reported by the Hill, Carol Fowler, chairwoman of the South Carolina Democratic Party asked Greene to step down:
“Today I spoke with Alvin Greene, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, and asked him to withdraw from the race,” Carol Fowler, chairwoman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said in a statement. [...]
Fowler said she didn’t take her decision “lightly.” “I believe strongly that the Democratic voters of this state have the right to select our nominee,” she said. “But this new information about Mr. Greene has would certainly have affected the decisions of many of those voters.”
And so, this may be the end of Greene’s odd campaign, that has been questioned as a GOP generated place-marker stunt.

Kendra Wilkinson's first public comments on her now-released "Kendra Exposed" sex tape is that she was just a normal girl who didn't even know she was going to become a celebrity.

Wilkinson, who shot to fame as part of the Playboy reality TV series "Girls Next Door" before breaking from Hugh Hefner's bunny-fide empire to marry footballer Hank Baskett and deliver a baby boy, also says that she's angry at her ex (and sex tape costar Justin Frye) for disrupting her family.

NBA CHICAGO BULLS NEXT HEAD COACH - TOM THIBODEAU

Why did the Chicago Bulls decide Tom Thibodeau was the right man for the job?

Here are a few reasons why the Boston Celtics' assistant will be introduced as the new head coach of the Bulls once the NBA Finals end:

1. A player's coach: By almost all accounts, Thibodeau is beloved by the players he has coached. He is able to break down each player's game and consistently finds a way to make them better. Players respect his work ethic and trust him. In listening to players speak about him over the past few years, it's clear that he has the ability to connect with all types of players."Tom's a workaholic," Celtics forward Paul Pierce said recently. "I'm always catching him in there working, watching film in his office. He's probably the most prepared coach I've ever seen."

Celtics forward Glen Davis may have summed up the team's feelings towards Thibodeau best.

"I have no trouble following a guy who knows exactly where he's going," he told the Boston Globe.

2. More than a defensive guru: Thibodeau made a name for himself, at least nationally, by essentially being the defensive coordinator for the Celtics. But if you ask his peers, there is far more to him than simply being a defensive whiz. The Bulls wouldn't have decided on him unless they liked what they heard when he started talking about his offensive principals. Rivers and former NBA head coach Jeff Van Gundy, who hired Thibodeau in New York and Houston, made it a point in recent weeks to go out of their way to praise Thibodeau for his ability in other areas of the game as well. One of the biggest knocks on former Bulls head coach Vinny Del Negro was that he didn't run a very imaginative offense. It will be interesting to see how Thibodeau incorporates Derrick Rose and any prospective free agent into this new era of Bulls basketball.

3. Basketball is his life: Thibodeau is the first guy to enter the gym in the morning and the last one to leave at night. Ask most people about Thibodeau, and his work ethic is one of the first things that they will mention. That's not a knock on Del Negro, who was also a very hard worker and routinely put in long hours, but Thibodeau sounds like the type of guy who will watch game film until his eyes bleed. He has earned a reputation as a workaholic and that will probably fit in nicely alongside Rose, who is regularly the last player to leave the Berto Center.

4. No NBA head coaching experience? No problem: Thibodeau may not have much head coaching experience (just one season as a head coach at Salem State), but he does have plenty of coaching experience as he gets set to lead the Bulls. He has been an assistant coach/scout for nearly three decades, and the organization must feel confident that he can impart that wisdom on its young core of players. The biggest knock on Del Negro was that he had no previous coaching experience before he was hired by the Bulls two years ago. He was learning on the job, and he had troubles at certain points, especially in his first season, with game situations.

In an ironic twist, Thibodeau actually coached Del Negro when he played with the San Antonio Spurs in the early 1990s so it will be interesting to see if the pair ends up discussing the job at some point in the next few weeks.

It was widely assumed that the Bulls would go after someone who had previous head coaching experience, especially considering that actually passed over Thibodeau two years ago when they hired Del Negro. But in the end they must have felt as if Thibodeau gave them the best chance to win right now. Surely there will be some fans who wonder why it took so long for Thibodeau to land a coaching job, but I thought Van Gundy gave the most direct answer when the Orlando Sentinel asked him that very question recently:

"He's a serious-minded professional but in the job market, that's almost been construed as a negative," Van Gundy said. "In that, he's too serious. Now when you start getting knocked down for being too serious about your job, then you know we have a problem in America.

"He has a good way with players, particularly star players. He's direct and honest, but he has a very good sense of humor."

That is what the Bulls are banking on, and that is probably one of the biggest reasons why they've decided that he is the right man for the job.

SURVEY ON BELMONT STAKES AND PREDICTION

The victory gives WinStar Farm its second win of the Triple Crown season. They also bred and own Super Saver, who won the Kentucky Derby by 2½ lengths in the slop on May 1. The victory is trainer Bill Mott’s first in a Triple Crown race.

Smith said he was told by Mott to let the horse find his rhythm. “It was almost as if you could close your eyes,” he said of Drosselmeyer hitting his stride. Smith, who had been 0 for 12 in the Belmont, secured a career Triple Crown with the victory.

First Dude, who was second in the Preakness Stakes, was third. Ice Box, the morning-line favorite who finished second in the Derby, finished sixth. Drosselmeyer paid $28 on a $2 bet to win.

Before we dive into the Belmont Stakes, let's look back at the Preakness. This space could not have been more wrong about Super Saver. The race looked to be set up perfectly for him and, indeed, he was in the garden spot stalking a good, but not unreasonable, pace.

He just didn't fire.

Lookin At Lucky and First Dude ran well, with Lucky prevailing in the stretch.

Saturday's Belmont field will not have either the winner of the Kentucky Derby or Preakness and has only one entrant, First Dude, running back three weeks after the Preakness. The morning line odds show three clear choices and nine others, and, while long shots are always a favorite in this space, it's hard to get away from the top three here.

Fly Down

This Nick Zito trainee is making his Triple Crown debut. Four weeks ago, in the Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes run at Belmont Park, Fly Down made an impressive, four-wide move around the far turn and won by an easy six lengths. The move around the turn was the kind that you see in Belmont winners, and, if he can repeat that effort on Saturday, he'll be tough to beat. He also has two wins over First Dude earlier in his career, and that rival proved his quality three weeks ago with a game second place finish in the Preakness Stakes. Three more reasons to like Fly Down: He's improving, he has a two-time Belmont winning trainer and he should enjoy the Belmont's distance of 1½ miles, which you cannot say about a lot of the choices. The pick.
Ice Box

Here's predicting a Zito exacta. Ice Box is coming off a five-week layoff after his troubled runner-up finish in the Kentucky Derby, and the Derby-to-Belmont strategy has been successful in recent years with Birdstone (2004), Jazil (2006) and Summer Bird (2009). The freshening looks to have worked for Ice Box, who fired a bullet workout in preparation for the Belmont. (He also fired a bullet in preparation for the Derby.) The main concern is how far back this late runner will be from what's expected to be a slow pace. (First Dude may be the lone pacesetter.) Ice Box benefitted from slow fractions in Louisville and in the Florida Derby, but he's not likely to get those on Saturday. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him win, but he's not attractive at 3-1 on the morning line.
First Dude

The Preakness long shot set a respectable pace at Pimlico and was game in finishing second to Lookin At Lucky, considered one of the best, if not the best, 3-year-old in the country. With the lack of pacesetters in the Belmont, he's likely to again be out in front, and if he can get away with fractions of 49 and change, he could be home free. But with four hard races under him since the end of February, First Dude is also a candidate to regress.
Stay Put

Among the long shots, Stay Put is the most attractive. In his two stakes races, both at the Fair Grounds earlier in the year, he rallied late but was compromised by soft fractions. He finished fifth both times but losing by less than three lengths. In his last start, against four overmatched rivals, he won. His running style suggests that he should get the distance, and his trainer, Steve Margolis, is winning at a rate better than Todd Pletcher, Bob Baffert, Bill Mott and Kiaran McLaughlin right now. At 20-1 on the morning line, he would make the payouts interesting.
Etc.

The highly regarded Drosselmeyer was whipped by Fly Down in the Dwyer and will need an improvement in form to contend. ... Game On Dude won going away in his last start, but beat a weak field. He lost to Ice Box by double digit lengths in the Florida Derby. ... The Kentucky Derby's fourth-place finisher, Make Music For Me, was running late in Louisville and should be running late on Saturday. ... Late Belmont entry Interactif, trained by Pletcher, has done his best running on grass. ... A son of Lighthouse, Uptowncharlybrown does not have the bloodlines to get the Belmont's 1½ miles. ... Stately Victor's form makes one think he's just a synthetic sensation. ... Spangled Star has never been beyond 1 1/6 miles, but he does have successful connections in Rick Dutrow and Garrett Gomez .... Dave in Dixie has lost by more than a combed 20 lengths in his last two races.

Jackson’s response drew a round of laughter before he went on to provide some context, which plenty of Lakers fans have needed with Jackson’s name surfacing in rumors for nearly every coaching vacancy in the league right now.
“Yes, I think a lot of that is true,” he said. “It feels like we’re headed in the right direction. We believe in what we’re doing. We’ve got momentum. I know the Celtics do, too, but this is really the topping on the cake, so to speak, as to how you come out in the Finals and how you play. I’m looking forward to this, and that’s it.”
When pressed a bit more and told that it sounded like he was leaning towards staying with the Lakers, Jackson went rogue again.
“All right,” he responded before getting up and leaving the stage.

This postseason has given Bryant a "redemption" list to check off. He sought to silence those who proclaimed that he lost a step after being surpassed as arguably the game's best player by two-time defending MVP LeBron James. He wanted to eliminate the Phoenix Suns, who provided his two most embarrassing playoff ousters. And now he gets his shot at a fifth NBA championship -- which would put him past Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan and tie him with Magic Johnson and move him within one of Michael Jordan -- against the hated Boston Celtics, the same team that throttled him and the Lakers in the NBA Finals two years ago. Bryant and Allen have never hidden their disdain for each other, and Allen took pleasure in flustering Bryant two years ago. Allen never had a memorable wheelchair moment, but he quietly was the Celtics' most consistent player in their last Finals appearance. He has continued to play at a high level despite being the oldest starter on the Celtics.

Paul Pierce vs. Ron Artest
Pierce has always been irked that he was never a part of the league's best player discussion, so he used that snub -- and a favorable matchup-- to will himself to the NBA Finals MVP two years ago. Pierce, who grew up in the shadow of The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., is hoping to get his second title at the expense of the Lakers. At 32, Pierce hasn't been able to dominate offensively with the regularity he did in 2008, but he has always delivered in Boston's most desperate moments -- including a 31 point, 13 rebound performance in the series clinching victory over Orlando in the conference finals. He will have a more difficult challenge against Artest, a muscular and mercurial forward who has always defended Pierce well. Best known for his role in the 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Artest is making his first Finals appearance and has already entered Lakers lore after making a game winning put-back as time expired in Game 5 in the conference finals against Phoenix.

Andrew Bynum vs. Kendrick Perkins
The Lakers' Bynum missed the playoffs two years ago with an injured left knee cap, but he postponed surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee -- which recently was drained -- in order to be available this time against Boston. Bynum has had an uneven postseason, but his presence takes some pressure away from Pau Gasol and forces the Celtics to defend two seven-footers. Perkins has been an invaluable though often overlooked cog for Boston, but his physically bruising style and defensive prowess helped the Celtics avoid double-teaming both Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard this postseason. Perkins's emotions, though, often get the best of him and his next technical foul (he has six) could lead to an automatic one-game suspension.

Kevin Garnett vs. Pau Gasol
Garnett and Perkins manhandled Gasol so much two years ago that the Spaniard was given the unflattering name "Ga-soft." The criticism angered Gasol, forcing the league's most skilled big man to get tougher, and now he is ready to redeem the one postseason blemish in three playoff runs with the Lakers. Still recovering from a right knee injury last season, Garnett hardly resembles the menacing force he was during Boston's championship run in 2008 -- aside from his chest-thumping, intimidating howls and incessant cursing. But he remains a staunch defender, having silenced Antawn Jamison and Rashard Lewis the past two rounds. He also provided flashes of brilliance with a dominant offensive showing against Cleveland, the NBA's regular-season champion. -- Advantage: Lakers

Rajon Rondo vs. Derek Fisher
In two years, Rondo has gone from a player learning how to win to the player Boston needs to win. Rondo has been a breakout star this postseason, with his unorthodox playing style, non-stop motor and floor leadership helping to extend Boston's championship window. He also provided the hustle highlight of the playoffs when he dived between the legs of Orlando's Jason Williams to track down a loose ball, quickly hopped up and made a layup. Fisher hasn't had any rest this postseason, chasing around Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, Utah's Deron Williams and Phoenix's Steve Nash. Rondo's frenzied freelancing should pose more problems for Fisher, but Fisher's steadying influence and clutch shooting remains an asset for the Lakers.

Volatility vs. Occasional invisibility
Boston has a surly big man (Rasheed Wallace) with a ring who once led the NBA in technical fouls, another forward (Glen Davis) nicknamed "Big Baby" who once cried on the sideline, a wing player (Tony Allen) who once tore up his knee after dunking following a dead ball and a three-time slam dunk champion (Nate Robinson) . Wallace is still battling a bad back and Davis suffered a concussion in the last series. A starter the last time the Lakers faced Boston in the Finals, the versatile Lamar Odom has been the lone consistent reserve for the Lakers.

Doc Rivers vs. Phil Jackson
Jackson is making his 13th NBA Finals appearance and broke a tie last season with Celtics patriarch Red Auerbach with his 10th championship, and fourth with the Lakers. In the final year of his contract, Jackson could leave after this season but might be convinced to stay. Two years after his only championship, Rivers has arguably done the best coaching job of his career. With his aging and ailing roster stumbling toward the end of the regular season, Rivers convinced his team that it had what it took to win another title and led the Celtics to a shorter postseason run than 2008.

We didn’t want it to end this way. We wanted "Junior," "The Kid," "The Man Who Saved Baseball in Seattle."
We wanted one more laser-fast whip of the bat. We wanted one more smooth shot into the right field seats. We wanted one more ear-to-ear smile. We wanted one more moment to treasure.
We wanted the player of our youth, the stuff of legends.
We didn’t get it. What we got Joe Namath as a Ram, Willie Mays as a Met, Franco Harris as a Seahawk.
What we got was a proud athlete who hung around one year too long, unable to accept that his prodigious gifts had diminished to the point where he was no longer able to keep up.
Heck, we didn’t even get the same player as last year, the one who could still catch up to a fastball, the one who changed the Mariners’ poisonous clubhouse culture with his sunny demeanor and playful mischief. What we got was a distraction.
The Mariners may have made a mistake by bringing Griffey back to Seattle, but he wasn't the only black hole in this lineup, and he's not keeping the next great thing off the field. It was a gamble, but it was a move the M’s needed to make out of respect to a player who changed the game in so many ways.
Five years from now, when Junior is inducted into the Hall of Fame, the 2010 season will be a blip on his storied career, a distant memory for those who remember his glee as he slid into home to defeat the Yankees, his scaling the wall at the Kingdome to snag a fly ball, his crushing the ball into the upper deck during the "Refuse To Lose" season.
I never had the chance to cover Griffey. As I’ve said before, it remains one of my career disappointments. I moved to Seattle in November of 1999, the year he was shipped off to Cincy. When he returned to Seattle, the fan in me was ecstatic
I was at Safeco the night he hit a game-winning homer against Arizona last season. The crowd went absolutely bonkers, and so did I. On that night, I was a 14-year-old kid again, going bananas for my favorite player. It is a memory I won’t forget.

SEX SAFE to prevent pregnancy, study finds for the TEENS use rhythm method

Teenagers today are more innovative just to be safe in their early sex lives.
LOS ANGELES -- Today's teenagers are increasingly likely to use the rhythm method to prevent pregnancy and to have relaxed attitudes about unwed motherhood, a new government teen sex survey has found.
The results, released Wednesday by the National Center for Health Statistics, found that 17 percent of 15- to 19-year-olds (sexually active or not) used periodic abstinence, or the calendar rhythm method, as a form of contraception in the period from 2006 to 2008. In 2002, 11 percent of teens used that method.
"That was pretty much a surprise," said Joyce Abma, lead author of the study and a demographer with the center. "The rhythm method is associated with a pretty high failure rate - on average, 25 percent of women will become pregnant during the first year of using that method. It's not a welcome development, especially in combination with the fact that overall, contraceptive use hasn't changed significantly from the last survey."
The poll of 2,767 teens, which was part of the National Survey of Family Growth, also found that more teens than in years past said they agreed or strongly agreed with the statement: "It is OK for an unmarried female to have a child." Among teen boys in the current survey, 64 percent agreed or strongly agreed, while in 2002 only 50 percent did. Among teen girls that number was 71 percent, not significantly different from 2002.
In other significant differences from previous surveys, among male teens who had not yet had sex, 12 percent said the reason was that they didn't want to get a girl pregnant. In 2002, 25 percent of male teens who had not yet had sex cited that reason. However, condom use among male teens is up - 81 percent of never-married males in the current survey said they used them at first intercourse, compared to 71 percent in 2002.
Considering that teen birth rates have recently begun to increase after declining for several years, sex-oriented messages aimed at teens may need to be refocused, Abma said: "In addition to making the means to avoid pregnancy available, we may need to go one step back and emphasize the motivations to avoid pregnancy, such as providing programs that give teens goals that are not compatible with early parenthood."

SEXY SCENE on Debralee Lorenzana that sues Citibank Corp

Debralee Lorenzana, a 33 year old Queens woman, is suing banking giant Citibank because, she claims, she was fired for being too sexy and distracting her male co-workers.

Really…..

Lorenzana worked as a business banking officer for Citibank from September 2008 to August 2009, when she was fired. Lorenza's lawsuit says that she was fired basically for two reasons. One was that she was not opening enough new accounts. The other was that despite dressing appropriately by any reasonable business standard, she was told by at least two managers that she needed to stop wearing heels and tailored clothing that accentuated her curves and other bodily assets.

Lorenzana's lawsuit even goes so far as to say that other women in the office were allowed to dress the way she was not allowed to dress because the other women were not blessed (cursed?) with height, curves, and general womanliness.

For anybody who lives or works in Manhattan, this whole case seems questionable at best. New York City, and midtown Manhattan in particular, is full of very sexy women who dress very stylishly and show off, in a tasteful but revealing way, their natural (or sometimes unnatural) curves.

Heels, tapered dresses and revealing outfits are practically a required uniform in the business districts of the Big Apple. If, as Lorenzana claims, she was simply dressing stylishly and sexily, it is hard to fathom that she would be fired for distracting her co-workers.

Anybody walking the streets in Manhattan at lunch time during the spring and summer months could attest to the fact that even the women who don't look good look good. That last statement makes all the sense in the world, by the way, if you've spent any time in New York City either as a resident, employee or tourist.

UPDATE ON JORAN CASE: Interpol arrest warrant issued, Joran van der Sloot fled bloody crime scene

Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch man once considered a suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, is the suspect in the killing of a woman in Peru, Peruvian police officials said Wednesday
An arrest warrant has been issued for Joran van der Sloot in the stabbing murder of a Peruvian 22-year-old woman named Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, according to official information
Joran van der Sloot was last seen in the company of the victim on Sunday, May 30, by both a hotel guest and an employee at the facility. Joran had been in the company of Stephany Flores the night before, Saturday, May 29, as well. The two were video taped in the Atlantic City Casino.
Stabbing murder on Sunday
According to Criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia, an international arrest warrant has been issued by Interpol since the suspect fled Peru supposedly enroute for Chile after the murder occurred on Sunday, May 30.
Joran van der Sloot was in Peru for a poker tournament, having entered the country on May 14. It is unclear if Stephany participated in the gambling tournament as well.
Bloody stabbing mess in hotel room
Stephany Flores was murdered approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 30, according to her father Ricardo Flores, a Peruvian businessman and race car driver. Joran van der Sloot was the registered occupant of the luxury hotel room in the Miraflores neighborhood of the city.
The room in which Joran had rented, and Stephany's body was found, was covered with blood and showed signs of a struggle.
May murders a coincidence?
Joran van der Sloot has remained a suspect in the May 30 disappearance of another young woman, Natalie Holloway. Holloway was last seen in the company of Joran van der Sloot when she disappeared as well.
Like Stephany Flores, Natalie had been seen with Joran van der Sloot in a hotel casino too. And like Stephany, Natalie was not seen the next morning after spending the evening with Joran van der Sloot. The fact that Natalie disappeared in May of 2005, her body never to be found, and Stephany Flores was murdered in May 2010 has not escaped the notice of law enforcement investigating both cases.

Joran and Stephanie had only been at the hotel for four hours when the Dutch boy absconded Peru. Joran checked out of the hotel room in which Stephany's body would later be found three days later, on Wednesday, June 2.
But Joran did not immediately leave Peru. Instead, he exited the country around 1:42 p.m. in the afternoon on Monday, May 31, according to official reports.
NY city lawyer for van der Sloot comments
"Joran van der Sloot has been falsely accused of murder once before," Joran's New York city lawyer, Joe Tacopina told the press.
The Dutch boy's lawyer cautioned anyone from rushing to judgment on the case, but many have said that is an impossibility given the similarities already glaringly obvious and that Joran van der Sloot fled the premises the day Stephanie Flores is believed to have been stabbed to death in Joran's hotel room in Peru.

(BP OIL SPILL) Robots succeed, cut well pipe; oil gushes into Gulf – as their possible recourse

A new flow of oil emerged from BP's damaged undersea well in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday evening after a remote-controlled submarine successfully cut into the well's riser pipe.
BP used robots in its latest attempt to curtail the flow of crude from the largest spill in U.S. history, which spread to barrier islands off Alabama and Mississippi on Tuesday.
When the robot submarines cut into the undersea well's riser pipe, a fresh spew of oil temporarily obscured the view of the mechanical arm. The cut was a first step toward placing a cap over the well that has spewed hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico every day since late April.
BP expects to make more cuts to the riser before bringing in a diamond saw to make a clean cut where the cap will be fitted. Doug Suttles, the company's chief operating officer, told CNN's "John King USA" that the procedure should collect the "vast majority" of the oil if it succeeds.
"We'll be putting the cap assembly, loading that out and sending it to the sea bed later tonight," Suttles said. "We should be able to install this tomorrow. And hopefully by late tomorrow or Thursday, we should have this thing operating."
But the operation carries the risk that the flow of crude from the ruptured well could increase by up to 20 percent once the damaged riser is cut away. The job already has been complicated by pipework around the well that has had to be removed before massive metal shears could be brought to bear Tuesday evening, Suttles said. The gusher may not be shut down until August, when BP expects to complete relief wells that will take the pressure off the one now spewing into the Gulf.
The 5,000-foot-deep well erupted after an explosion and fire aboard the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig on April 20. The rig sank two days later, taking 11 men with it and leaving up to 19,000 barrels (798,000 gallons) of oil pouring into the Gulf, according to federal estimates.
After fouling sections of Louisiana's marshes over the past two weeks, the oil was spreading toward the northeast on Tuesday. Tar balls and patches of reddish-brown "weathered" oil came ashore on Dauphin Island, Alabama, south of Mobile, and on Mississippi's Petit Bois Island, off Pascagoula, authorities reported.

More than a dozen miles offshore, researchers from the Dauphin Island Sea Lab reported seeing more rust-colored swaths of oil spattering the surface of the Gulf. They ranged from the size of half-dollar coins to 30 or 40 feet long, said John Dindo, the laboratory's associate director.
BP's handling of the spill has been sharply criticized by members of Congress, officials in the Gulf states and the Obama administration, which announced Tuesday that a criminal investigation of the spill was under way. In addition, federal officials will no longer hold joint news briefings with the company, the administration announced.
Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the government's point man on the spill, will now become the face of the response effort. Allen told reporters in New Orleans, Louisiana, that his job is to speak "very frankly with the American public."
Rear Adm. Mary Landry, who has been the Coast Guard's on-scene coordinator for five weeks, will be returning to her duties as chief of the service's New Orleans district office. Allen praised Landry's work leading "an anomalous and unprecedented response" to the spill, but said Landry now needs to focus "on the larger array of threats" to her district -- including this summer's Atlantic hurricane season, which began Tuesday.
In Louisiana, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser warned that a hurricane in the area could drive more oil ashore.
"We don't want to scare anybody, but we need to be realistic about it," Nungesser said. "If a storm does top out levees, it will probably bring oil with it." He said residents who evacuate ahead of a hurricane might return "not to a flooded home, but to a home that is completely contaminated with this oil."
Tuesday also marked the start of the recreational fishing season for red snapper, a big draw for sport anglers in the region. But the season opened with a new blow to the region's fisheries industry as the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration extended its restrictions on fishing to almost a third of the Gulf.
The closures extend southward to a point about 240 miles west of the tip of Florida and eastward to federal waters off the Alabama-Florida state line.
The state of Mississippi announced a closure of some of its inland waterways to fishing after oil was found in the area. The closed area includes areas east of 88 degrees, 40 minutes west longitude, and south of the CSX Railroad, but not including Graveline Bayou and its tributaries.
After a meeting with state attorneys general and federal prosecutors from Louisiana Alabama and Mississippi, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters that the Justice Department was looking at possible criminal violations in connection with the spill.
Justice Department launches investigation
"If we find evidence of illegal behavior, we will be forceful in our response," Holder said. "We have already instructed all relevant parties to preserve any documents that may shed light on the facts surrounding this disaster."
In a statement issued in response to Holder's announcement, BP said it would cooperate with any inquiry, "just as we are doing in response to the other inquires that are already ongoing." Suttles told CNN that there have been "very few differences" between company and federal officials working to cut off the spill.
"This is a team that's really all aligned on the same goals and has been since the beginning," he said. "The government clearly presses us very hard to make sure we're responding as quick as we can. We're moving things forward, we're applying all the resources that we need to apply. But I would stress at the working level, those differences are really quite small."
BP, rig owner Transocean Ltd. and oilfield services company Halliburton have blamed each other for the disaster. But BP, as the well's owner, is responsible for the costs of the cleanup under federal law, and Suttles said the company has now spent more than $1 billion to clean up the oil stock has taken a beating on Wall Street , plunging on Tuesday after the failure of last week's "top kill" attempt to close the well. The company's stock value is down more than a third since the spill began.

Some Like It Hot – 2 Stars (Average)
In its day, “Some Like It Hot” was a hot ticket, being nominated for six Oscars and winning one. Released in 1959, this black-and-white film also served as the greatest comedy platform for its three main characters—Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), Joe as “Josephine” (Tony Curtis) and Jerry as “Daphne” (Jack Lemon). Lemon was the actor, Monroe was the sex symbol, and Curtis was the looker.
The plot found two down-on-their-luck musicians (Joe and Jerry) witness the St. Valentine’s Day massacre by the mob gangland-style in 1929 during Chicago’s Prohibition Era. Joe and Jerry narrowly escape death, then disguise themselves as women to become “Josephine” and “Daphne”, and hook up with an all-girl band headed for a gig in sunny Florida.
Complications set in when the two discover that Sugar Kane is part of the troop. Playboy Curtis falls for Monroe but must deal with his role as Josephine, and Lemon’s Daphne must deal with the amorous attentions of Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown), an older millionaire. Things really heat up when mob boss Spats Colombo (George Raft) and his gang show up at the same place for a “convention” of mob bosses.
Billy Wilder directed this film and, while having some fun doing so, also had his patience tested. Apparently Marilyn Monroe gave new meaning to the phrase “dumb blonde”. She took 47 takes in one scene to get “It’s me, Sugar” correct; after 30 takes Wilder had the phrase written on a blackboard for her.
After 40 takes of her saying, “Where’s the bourbon?” when Monroe was rummaging through some drawers, Wilder pasted the correct line in one of the drawers. Monroe was still confused, so Wilder pasted the line in every drawer. It took 59 takes for Monroe to get it right. Tony Curtis said publicly that Monroe was routinely 2 to 3 hours late to the set, and occasionally refused to leave her dressing room.
Despite it all, Some Like It Hot won an Oscar for Best Costume Design by Orry-Kelly, and had Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Jack Lemon), Best Art Direction (Ted Haworth and Edward G. Boyle), Best Cinematography (Charles Lang), Best Director (Billy Wilder) and Best Writing (Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond)—and don’t even ask about I.A.L. (a pseudonym for Romanian-born Itec Domnici when he was a student at Columbia University).
When Orry-Kelly was measuring all three stars for dresses, he half-jokingly told Marilyn Monroe that “Tony Curtis has a nicer butt than you.” Monroe responded by pulling open her blouse and saying, “Yes, but he doesn’t have tits like these!” This was Hollywood in 1959.
Some Like It Hot also won three Golden Globe Awards—Best Motion Picture Comedy, Best Actor (Jack Lemon) and Best Actress (Marilyn Monroe). It is a good thing that the voters were not on the set for the filming.
The American Film Institute voted Some Like It Hot as the Funniest Movie of all time. The film is No. 14 on AFI’s List of the 100 Greatest Movies of all time.
At the end of the film, Daphne informs Osgood—”her” future millionaire husband—that she will not be able to have children. “We can adopt,” says Osgood. “But you don’t understand, Osgood!” replies Daphne, “I’m a man!” Osgood replies, “Well, nobody’s perfect!” The line “Well, nobody’s perfect” was vote as the 48th most famous quote in movie history by the AFI.
And, in the truth is stranger than fiction category, a California man found a little black dress in his closet (what was it doing there?) and was stunned when appraisers determined that it was worn by Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot and had an estimated worth of $250,000.
Meanwhile, back in Kansas in 1959 (the place made famous by Dorothy and Toto in “The Wizard of Oz”), the film was banned from showing in Kansas because cross-dressing was “too disturbing for Kansans.”
I suspect that Some Like It Hot may have been one of the first films with high viewership to include cross-dressing in the script. My, how times have changed. In today’s liberal environment, we are exposed to much more much more often.
I personally would not rate Some Like It Hot as the best comedy ever made. In my book of great films, that honor goes to “Waking Ned Devine”, which offered superb entertainment and also delivered a very meaningful message about relationships not only among individuals but also an entire village.
